by the sea

grey baldpates create a nest within a palm tree
they sink their talons into soft fronds
navigating through the underbrush
the faded pink of dawn
creates a silhouette
i am reminded of you and our makeshift home
by the sea
prayers frail in your hand tucked neatly in lapis lazuli
fervent yet still
your touch a sacrament
